The Role
It was a great pleasure, interesting, with a nice team and some real skills improved/learned. I was really part of the office and aware of other team's work.
Very nice team with some work in common, good sharing of knowledge with very approachable people.
Very competent management and supervisor, a lot of useful guidance with nonetheless plenty to find by myself. From my current perspective, I would do a few things differently but that is just proof that I learnt a lot.
Most of the time I was able to tailor my goals for the day.
I was able to decide most things about technical choices, methods and deliverables. I could hardly expect more in an R&D placement.
I did a lot of progress I a very broad range of subjects. It has been useful many times since and it will definitely continue that way.
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere, especially with the unforgettable Friday cakes. People seemed quite relaxed and open. Still a little calm for me maybe?
Just a few glitches but I had a lot of help and information. The missing things are mostly before the arrival of foreigners, especially some help/advice for the accommodation.
I participated in a training about presentation skills and it was helpful. But most of all, the team members took some of their time to explain many things (scientific aspects, software, company organisation), even if it was not required or immediately related to my tasks.

Difficult to say in such a big organisation. My office was relatively small, with no permanent position corresponding to my qualifications and job as an intern. I think international opportunities are still very competitive even being an intern.
The Culture
They were great.
I found rents and taxes quite high, but the pubs are affordable and the large number of students makes it easy to find cheap activities, especially if one manages to get acquainted with Oxford University students.
Great possibilities, especially within colleges, which can be difficult to approach. The small city and the large international community were very pleasant.
Huge number of opportunities but sometimes hard to find. I found the city is unbelievable.
