The Role
Some days it was difficult to understand what I really there for as I didn't feel like I was really learning anything other than how to copy certain processes.
Many colleagues actively tried to get to know me and invited me to social events.
I could ask questions if I couldn't understand a particular problem, but an Audit101 would have been really useful.
I was frequently left to my own devices for hours on end. Luckily I could use the online business school tool to keep myself busy and inform myself on different topics, but it definitely didn't fill my time.
I was given some responsibility to interact with clients and to audit parts of accounts myself, but very infrequently.
Whilst I now understand more about different accounting practices, I didn't feel I learnt enough on this internship to make it truly worthwhile.
The Company
People in the office were pleasant and happy to stop for a chat. It was quite casual and nobody seemed to have too much pressure.
Having arranged to start my internship early due to prior commitments 6 months before I started, even before I agreed to the contract, I was surprised how unprepared the office was for me.
The training resources online were very useful, as was the presentation training at the 'intern welcome' event.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
The company itself seems to look after its employees very well, with good training and generous 'perks', however I didn't click with my particular department and department transfers were too limited.
The Culture
Everybody seemed to get along and they enjoyed socialising.
Cheaper than London! Some great bargain nights out to be had.
Really great nightlife, good variety, something for everyone
Frequent social events and sports events. Often flyers were sent around advertising local promotions which we could join in on.
