The Role
I really enjoyed my internship! I felt as if it provided me with the necessary opportunities to really learn and gain an invaluable insight into banking.
My manager always left me with challenging yet doable to work so I felt as if I was trusted with somewhat difficult tasks.
Whenever I had a question regarding the tasks I were given or about finance and work in general, there was always support and someone to help answer them.
With the tasks that my manager gave to me and the other tasks that RBC left for us, my 9 to 5 day was pretty much filled. I was not left thinking that I had nothing to do!
Surrounding the main tasks that I had to do, I was given a large amount of responsibility because after being taught how to do what I needed to do, I was pretty much given full responsibility on what I had to do. Help was always available whenever I had a question or query.
It is still early days in my degree for me to see how my skills and training are benefitting me. However in the world of work, networking and interview situations, there are many invaluable skills that I have learnt where the benefits are clear to see.
The Company
Although there was a lot of work to get done, the people in the office were not just office drones.
The HR department at RBC were really good at organising the internship! They gave us little projects to do as groups which brought us interns closer together. Also, they gave us thorough reviews and allowed our voices to be heard in regards to how we felt the internships were going.
By catering to all of my needs and questions that I had, it was clear that the company as a whole invested quite a bit of time into me.

Company Parties/Events
Based on the work that I was doing ad what the staff had said, RBC does seem like a great place to work and I would love to work there some time in the future!
The Culture
We had a great time outside of the office with the other interns! The social aspect is one that I will not forget.
As we were in the City of London, certain bars and clubs are fairly expensive, however not all of them are. and as there are normal supermarkets in the area lunch is not expensive either.
The nightlife was great! Every Friday night a few of us interns would go out and really enjoy ourselves.
The internship provided us with activities to do outside of our day to day tasks. However as it was only for 7 weeks, there was not much else that we could take part in.
