The Role
The internship was a fantastic insight into what a career in accountancy entails. Everyone was incredibly friendly and made me feel comfortable and valued from my first day.
I really felt that I was given work to do which had some real life meaning behind it which really allowed me to feel part of the team. Hard work was always acknowledged by senior members of staff who also made me feel very welcome and valued.
The internship was coordinated fantastically. Each intern was assigned a 'buddy' who would help answer any questions you might have had either before or during the internship. Whilst I also had two appraisals during the internship where I could ask as many questions as I liked to my line manager.
My colleagues were keen to ensure that I was given a chance to really immerse myself in the job role and as a result, always kept me busy with interesting work- No filing or coffee making!
I felt as though I had real responsibility whilst at Grant Thornton, regularly doing work which was to be passed onto senior members of staff. I also attended client meetings where I really felt as though I was representing Grant Thornton as a staff member, not just an intern.
The two day presentation workshop that all interns attend has benefited by degree greatly as I am now far more confident and composed when giving a presentation. Analytical skills and my attention to denial were also bettered during the internship which has also assisted me in my degree studies.
The Company
Relaxed and easy going, everyone was very friendly.
As I have mentioned it was very well coordinated with everyday accounted for.
Skills workshop, client facing and corporate responsibility day were all really helpful in my personal development.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I was lucky enough to be offered a graduate role with Grant Thornton!
The Culture
Regular drinks and meals after work really helped me in getting to know my colleagues.
Not the cheapest but no more than I was expecting.
The nightlife is OK but there are better places located just 20 minutes away.
Charity involvement, football tournaments, loads of stuff to really help you feel part of the Grant Thornton team.
