The Role
The work was quite varied and interesting, however, with limited knowledge there were many things that I could not do and so I found myself on occasion with not much to do.
The team I worked in was very friendly and I felt included in all things that they did together, such as socials and team meetings.
Most days I was very busy with various thing but never found myself having to stay on really late or worry about work at home.
I had quite lot of freedom over the work that I did and felt that I was given the right to do tasks that I had the ability to do.
The Company
Everybody I spoke to seemed willing to help and the people in my team who I spent the most time with were always friendly.
An initial induction was held over 2 days at the beginning of the placement and we all met up again at the end to discuss what we thought of the internship. This was a good way to bond with the other interns.
Considering the amount of time that I spent there I learned a lot. Everybody explained things to me in detail and I was impressed with the amount of time that more senior consultants spent with me explaining the basics of what an Investment Consultant actually does.

Company Parties/Events
Being a multi-national company future prospects for development are good and I will be joining Mercer in the Autumn.
The Culture
I spent most days with the interns in my department, there were about 7 of us, and Mercer organised meetings with interns from around the country at the beginning and end of the placement.
Living in central London is obviously highly expensive but the bars and pubs in the surrounding area are pretty much what you get everywhere.
I participated in a company treasure hunt and went to a few socials in various pubs with my team after work. I believe there was also a company cricket and football team to get involved with.
