The Role
I really enjoyed my internship and was made to feel very welcome.
Everyone in my team, as well as the person who organised the scheme, made me feel very welcome. Everyone in the office, no matter if you worked with them or not, were always so friendly. I felt my team appreciated the work I did for them.
My manager was very supportive. We would meet weekly to dicuss my progress and tasks that I was doing. Other people that set me projects also made sure I was comfortable with what I was doing. Although they checked I was ok, it still felt like I had the responsibility and independent working which was really good.
There was only a couple of times I found myself at a loose end, but this was due to the nature of the work I was carrying out. Both times I told my manager I was waiting for people to come back to me before I could continue, and they always found me something to do in the meantime.
As well as the smaller tasks set, I was briefed on two main projects, which I was expected to complete. As mentioned above, I was always briefed well and given support throughout.
I have recently been offered another job and I believe that without this experience I most definitely would not have been offered it.
The Company
The office I was in was very fun and energetic. Everyone was so friendly!
Very organised - the induction days ran smoothly, and the CV training was organised well. You felt that if there was any problems, you could approach the organiser easily.
I had short weekly meetings with my manager to discuss my work, as well as bigger ones every few weeks. We were taught how to use the STAR method to discuss the skills we gained throughout. We also had a CV and interview training day which was really useful.
Obviously there cannot be a job open for every intern by the end of the scheme. I know people did get jobs with them, and I would not hesitate to look for a job with them if I was looking.
The Culture
We did a number of fundraising events throughout the internship. We also went out for food and drinks a few times. Everyone was really friendly.
As it was in London, it was probably as expected. The canteen was very good value.
There were lots of pubs and bars around the area. Again, as it was in London there was lots to do.
As well as going out with the interns, I went out for lunch with my team a few times. There were also lots of volunteering opportunities at a number of events.
