The Role
Brilliant placement, a perfect amount of responsibly and brilliant team atmosphere. The skills gained through this placement are amazing for the Marketing industry, particularly for the digital industry as I completed a digital marketing placement.
Made life-long friends, brilliant people to work with.
As L'Oréal is such a fast paced industry, everyone is extremely busy. My manager in particular was not that approachable on busy days. The plus side of this is that you have to think for yourself, you get better problem solving skills and your ability to prioritise tasks, organise and become more confident in your own decisions is dramatically increased.
I was extremely busy, my hours where quite long to cope with the amount of work. However, after 6 months I became more efficient and didn't enjoy the days that where quiet!
I was very happy with the level of responsibility given, having completed an internship in another industry, you realise how L'Oréal value the interns and graduates and how much work you actually get to take on.
Due to my passion with digital and new media, I feel that this placement has given me skills such as Search Engine Optimisation etc which are really needed in the Marketing industry at the moment. Furthermore, more general skills have been developed mainly organisation and managing other people/agencies.
The Company
Very fast paces, and exciting company to be part of.
Very well organised, I had a hand over for a week which made my transition almost seamless.
Again, as I am interested in Digital the company facilitated Google and Zenith media training days on digital trends etc. This really gives you an insight into where Digital is heading in the future. Secondly, even if you are interested in traditional marketing, digital aspects will be important in the future. Highly recommend!

Completing an internship dramatically increased your chances of getting on the graduate scheme from 1000 - 1 to 2 -1.
The Culture
I made good friends with the people I worked with and spent a good amount of time outside the office with my colleagues. Secondly. there is a bar 255 every month which gives you complementarity drinks and food, as well as graduate and intern socials, sports etc.
I lived outside of the Hammersmith, however with the intern wage I did struggle to live.
Hammersmith and the surrounding areas have some good bars and pubs.
L'Oréal have a keen emphasis on charity and training days etc.
