    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a good experience. It gave me a good opportunity to experience working in a big company. I also had the opportunity to gain an understanding of technical knowledge within the industry. I really enjoyed the experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given a warm welcome and I got along well with my team. They were very sociable and friendly. When I was doing the work, they listened to everything that I had to say so, yes, I felt I was valued by my colleagues.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given all the support that I need to do the jobs I was given effectively. And of course, any questions that I had, I could ask my manager.I was given great support from fellow team members who were happy to sit down and explain any difficult concepts.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were busier than others but I feel like the work was distributed quite evenly and kept me busy. I really enjoyed the range of work I was given to do - if I had too much to do, I was given support to help me out.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At first I was given some small jobs to get into the swing of things but as I went on in the internship I was gradually given bigger jobs that current employees would tackle. I was able to demonstrate credibility as the internship progressed.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned how to work as part of a big team of people. Naturally this environment improved my communication as well as my teamwork skills. It will definitely help me in my degree studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was quite a formal office setting but I could still openly express what I had to say without feeling out of place. The atmosphere really helped me to produce some great work. Team members were very friendly.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was fairly organised but there were some points where I felt like I didn’t really know what I was doing without asking my manager. Thankfully this didn’t happen very often and these issues were very quickly resolved.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given training at the start of the internship to prepare me for the jobs that I would be given. I was also given great feedback from my manager which I thought was very helpful as it allowed me to identify issues and fix them.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am led to believe that there are positive employment prospects with the company, however, I am yet to receive a decision. It is a very stable company in a volatile industry.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was good. All of the other interns were sociable and we would meet up quite often to get some drinks at the pub. We got on very well as interns. There was a friendly yet competitive atmosphere amongst us.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I found that it was very expensive, though I was expecting it. Especially when you compare it to university life which is cheap as chips. You should expect central london to be expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I visited a few clubs while I lived in London and I found them to quite average. I’m sure there are good ones in the area, just not the ones that I visited.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I went to a couple of dinners that the company paid for which was great. We also had some sports events that we could go to. I went to a CSR event which involved painting a local public park in order to give back the community, which was excellent.
