The Role
Very enjoyable experience with a great team, offering a massive learning experience.
Always recognised and appreciated for work input, with feedback given at different stages of internship. Was taken out by one of my colleagues for lunch to say thanks for a late finish the previous night to meet a client request.
Staffer always maintained good contact with individuals across the team and helped to ensure work was distributed fairly.
Extremely busy from the very first moment of internship through to the very end. I enjoy being busy and continuously learning new skills so this was brilliant for me, although others may find the workload too intense for their liking... it's not for everyone.
Large amount of responsibility on a wide range of projects. Client interaction fairly limited for interns, although was invited along to a few client events and dinners with more senior members.
Fantastic initial training week for interns in my division run by external professionals, aiming to cover all technical aspects needed for the job. Limited application to my degree but will certainly be very beneficial within the workplace upon graduation.
The Company
Good banter between interns and analysts, with a number of social events arranged between us (nights out / evening meals / 6-a-side football / etc.) and open-plan workplace environment allowed for excellent exposure to senior members. Additional events were arranged with my team, with senior members always approachable and happy to chat about the latest sporting results and their interests outside of work. A few fairly rigid characters struggled to relax at times, but that is always expected in this high-pressure industry.
Excellent training programme for interns and various events put on for interns across all divisions throughout the 9-week programme.
Strong training programme for interns, with 1 month of training in Toronto for incoming analysts. Continuous learning and development on the job due to varied nature of the work and high-intensity of the job.

The Culture
Very sociable group of interns, often going out for coffee / lunch / dinner / drinks together and meeting up outside of work. Not a competitive environment despite everyone hoping to get an offer at the end of the summer.
London is obviously expensive, however the salary for interns covers the local cost of living and allows for socialising and other monthly expenses.
Plenty of bars and pubs, although most places in the City of London close early. Quite a limited clubbing scene so often caught taxis elsewhere if heading out.
Often met up with colleagues after work and on weekends, although the hours demanded for the job limited the amount of free time we had.
