About You
I thought that it was very well organised and offered a great deal of variety. That is to say, there was a great balance between presentations, networking opportunities, discussions, tours and activities to ensure that the event was thoroughly engaging whist being very informative. I learned a lot about the firm (especially its culture) that I would otherwise not have known had I not attended an event like this.
Everyone was very welcoming. During the networking/ discussions over lunch and throughout pockets of the day I felt that all the staff (whether partners or trainees) were genuinely interested in what I had to say.
Every question I had to ask was comprehensively and competently answered. I believe that the answers were genuine and that the event was not a sales pitch which was wonderful.
The information I received was helpful insofar as it has given me plenty to think about when preparing training contract applications. I wouldn't say I developed any skills during the event as I had previously engaged in dragon's den and negotiation exercises - however I thought that feedback was very useful nevertheless.
The Company
To reiterate my answer to the first question, I thought that there was a great deal of variety to keep the day very interesting whilst still being informative.
Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The staff had plenty of enthusiasm and everyone seemed to be enjoying the their open day opportunity and took the games seriously enough to make them worthwhile but light-hearted enough to not create any hostile environments.
As much as you possibly could for an open day I would say.
Again, as much as you could in an open day. Though, I feel I did gain a good insight into the kind of culture of the firm.
I obtained a good prima facie understanding of the firm's culture.
I was thoroughly impressed by the firm.
Everything Else
I haven't been reimbursed yet, but will be in the near future.
There were plenty of good opportunities to meet other employees at all levels of the firm - all of whom were very helpful and friendly.
I found them very useful, I learned a lot about the daily life of a commercial lawyer at the firm.
I was told about all the opportunities available outside of work - from sports societies to pro bono opportunities to language classes.
If you are trying to distinguish between the various City law firms - this event may prove invaluable.
