    The Role

  • truly enjoyed it. It was an incredible experience for me working in such a large scale, prestigious organisation.

  • My colleagues I forged relationships with were extremely helpful, friendly and supportive since the beginning and really eased me into my first real experience of Finance

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • On a day to day basis, my manager would ensure that I am confident and finding the work okay. I would always be offered help, advice and were always happy and on hand to answer any queries I had.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • With the nature of the organisation, there was always work to do or processes and procedures to update so I was constantly kept busy as every little job was crucial and important to the organisation.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the beginning, I was given my own set of responsibilities and was informed of the required deadlines. This then helped me develop my prioritisation and organisational skills as it was vital that I followed a good plan when completing work to ensure everything was done on time.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • have learnt a great deal of skills that cannot be taught at university. For example, interpersonal skills as I would contacting senior colleagues via telephone and email on a regular basis as well as flexi time and understanding of the office environment. I have gained a great amount of knowledge about my future plans of studying or my chartered accounting accolades from my colleagues who are either part qualified or fully qualified and it has given me the boost and motivation to return to my final year of studying and aim for the highest degree classification.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • From team to team within the office, everybody was very chatty and really approachable. The atmosphere was great and there was a good morale amongst everybody.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was fantastic. It was expertly organised. The application stage was fluent in communication. I was given an induction timetable in my first week which worked very swiftly and my work throughout the year was superbly managed and well maintained.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I wasn't a great deal of training courses available to attend as such but I was offered the chance to attend a 3 days fully funded Student Conference which took place in Kendal. I gained a great deal of knowledge from this event as there were key speakers from other NHS trusts speaking about latest NHS issues and various interpersonal sessions such as how to deliver powerful presentations.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?

    Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are really exciting to me. I understand how my organisation works and I do plan to apply for any available jobs that are on offer once I graduate next year.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There certainly was. Every time it was a colleague's birthday or a leaving do there was a social event organised such as going for a few drinks in the local pub or for a meal after work. It was nice to socialise with my colleagues after work as it gave me the opportunity to learn more about them and form good relationships.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The trust is based in Prestwich which is a small village so there's a couple of pubs and no clubs or anything but it was all standard price. Nothing was extravagant.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The couple of pubs that were nearby were quite lively and nice to socialise at when it was a colleague's birthday or a similar celebration.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were always opportunities for external activities and events sent around by email but they didn't tend to apply to myself really. They were more focussed on the medical or nursing staff within the trust.

    3/5
