  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

  • A trainee took the time out to show me the finished piece of work that I had contributed to, and how my contribution added value.

  • My supervisor went out of her way to explain a very difficult point of law to me so that I could undertake some research for a case she was working on.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The practice area- specific talks were very useful. As well as giving an in-depth introduction into the practice area, there were also case-studies which gave a realistic insight into the type of work done in that department.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was only a week, so to make the most of the time we had, the week was structured with talks and case-studies as well as trainee lunches and time in the office.

  • It was really warm and welcoming - but everyone was working hard at the same time!

  • My supervisor and other associates took considerable time to explain various points of law and details of cases to improve my understanding.

  • The atmosphere felt really natural - there was a genuine 'open door' policy and no one was trying hard to impress.

  • The practice-area talks and case-studies were especially useful in helping me to decide which seats I would like to take in my training contract. The opportunity to hear about other associates' and trainees' experiences was also really valuable.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • People were really keen to talk about what they did outside the office. There was a trophy in one of the an associate's office that he had won playing for Stephenson Harwood and we were also able to attend the SH Choir's Christmas Concert.
