About You
A trainee took the time out to show me the finished piece of work that I had contributed to, and how my contribution added value.
My supervisor went out of her way to explain a very difficult point of law to me so that I could undertake some research for a case she was working on.
The practice area- specific talks were very useful. As well as giving an in-depth introduction into the practice area, there were also case-studies which gave a realistic insight into the type of work done in that department.
The Company
It was only a week, so to make the most of the time we had, the week was structured with talks and case-studies as well as trainee lunches and time in the office.
It was really warm and welcoming - but everyone was working hard at the same time!
My supervisor and other associates took considerable time to explain various points of law and details of cases to improve my understanding.
The atmosphere felt really natural - there was a genuine 'open door' policy and no one was trying hard to impress.
The practice-area talks and case-studies were especially useful in helping me to decide which seats I would like to take in my training contract. The opportunity to hear about other associates' and trainees' experiences was also really valuable.
Everything Else
People were really keen to talk about what they did outside the office. There was a trophy in one of the an associate's office that he had won playing for Stephenson Harwood and we were also able to attend the SH Choir's Christmas Concert.
Yes, definitely!
