The Role
I had a great time working for Groupe SEB as well as getting to experience working on a large number of projects which has been massively helpful coming into the final year of Uni.
Everyone was very friendly and willing to help you settle in and find your feet. I worked with employees both from the UK and from foreign sections of the business and was always treated as a part of the team, not just a short term placement student.
I worked closely on a daily basis with both the managers I worked under. I always felt that I had the support I needed and was given feedback as to how best to progress.
As I was working within a small team in the marketing department, we were often very busy juggling several projects at once. Although this could be a bit overwhelming at first, this fast pace kept the role interesting and taught me to manage my time far more efficiently!
Mid-way through my experience I had a change of management which allowed me to step up and accept much more responsibility as new staff were introduced. By the end of my placement I was leading range review presentations with large buyers and at press shows to journalists, developing artwork and copy for large audiences and working with our PR company on promotional calendars and social media activity.
I think my placement was invaluable for developing my skills as a marketeer from the classroom to the real world. In addition to the application of marketing theory there is an endless list of practical lessons I picked up which can only be learnt with this kind of on the job experience. I would recommend a placement year for anyone doing a marketing or business degree.
The Company
Everyone in the office was approachable and friendly. Although there was a lot of hard work we still had lots of fun to go with it.
A two week induction period meant that I was well settled in before starting any major bits of work.
As well as ongoing informal training there were also opportunities for structured training sessions.

Past placement students were working in permanent positions within the company. In addition Groupe SEB has many offices globally offering the opportunity to look for work abroad.
The Culture
I have made friends with some lovely people both from the UK and abroad, many of whom I am still in touch with,
Although I commuted from London, other interns told me that the Windsor area was quite expensive.
Some nice clubs and bars in Windsor as well as being a 50min train from central London.
As well as many informal after work drinks the company puts on after work events and parties.
