About You
A nice length, lots of interaction, friendly staff, valuable time spent.
There were only 24 of us there and only 5 per table (bar 1 of course) meaning there was a higher trainee to perspective trainee proportion than many other open days.
There was a very useful admissions talk at the end on the day which was helpful not only for Baker & McKenzie but was deliberately targeted to other firms too where the graduate recruitment staff had worked.
Not degree studies since mine has nothing to do with law.
The Company
It was well packed without being rushed. Included was a long networking lunch and a tour of the office. There was time for two interactive "games" a speed dating with trainees, and a few talks.
The most compelling and persuasive part of the day
The day itself wasn't targeted towards this but the firm made clear its commitment to both staff and trainees.
These days make it very easy to gloss over the harder and more tedious parts of the job.
Same as above, though the many opportunities to speak to trainees, associates and partners allowed me to leave with a fairly well-informed impression.
The content as well as the ethos of this particular company made more appealing the idea of a career in law.
Everything Else
Reimbursed travel expenses up to £100. Very easy - there was a form at the end, you needed your receipts.
A speed dating with trainees, a networking lunch, a tour of the office with more trainees, and interactive games about negotiating and pitching which involved trainees also.
Very informal, very relaxed. There was constantly food and coffee available.
This was made very clear as part of the generally sociable ethos the company projects.
