About You
There was a very friendly atmosphere at the firm, it did not feel overly formal and we received a really good insight into the firm through meeting staff from all different levels.
A Partner encouraged us all to apply to the firm's Vac Scheme, suggesting that we were all good candidates because we had obtained a place on the Open Day. This comment really boosted my confidence, and each member of staff I met was very approachable and friendly.
We were emailed an itinerary over a month beforehand and the day followed that, but did not feel rushed or overly structured.
It will not necessarily help with my studies, but the Open Day helped me decide that I liked the firm and the application skills session will certainly help with my vacation scheme applications, and not just for Baker & McKenzie.
The Company
We were given several breaks after long sessions, and nothing felt rushed. The activities were enjoyable as they were quite relaxed and guided well by the trainees and graduate recruitment staff.
All the activities were very interactive, the speakers engaging and there were many opportunities to network amongst peers and staff. It was a very enjoyable day.
They assisted in giving application advice, for all legal firm applications, but encouraged us to apply with them.
The question and answer session with a large range of trainee's was very insightful, as depending on the individual, they may have had a slightly different experience and we got a range of candid opinions on the firm and their reasons for working there, the negatives and the positives.
The initial talk was from a Partner who had trained with the firm, and he outlined the firm's culture and his experiences.
Everything Else
They reimburse reasonable travel expenses up to £100.00.
We spoke to numerous trainees, in different seats, the graduate recruitment team, and partners and other staff over lunch.

The trainees discussed their many opportunities for socialising, and entertained us with a story of the Partner's love of karaoke.
It was an enjoyable day which gave a very positive insight into Baker & McKenzie.
