    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A great experience in which I learnt a huge amount about the firm and the type of work it is involved with. The people were very helpful and were always happy to provide me with a constant flow of work which made my experience very enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues spent a good amount of time delegating work and explaining what I had to do. All my work was valued by colleagues, especially in relation to research.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always someone on hand to answer any questions. Support was mainly provided by my supervisor trainee. Technical support was easily accessible to address any IT problems.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was adequate work to keep me busy throughout the two weeks. Sometimes there will be one major task to focus on for the day, others there will be many smaller ones. If at any point there was nothing, my supervisor was always happy with giving me a research based task.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In light of the shortness of the placement, I was given considerable responsibility. For example, I was trusted with updating a partner on a new statute and given responsibility on answering legal questions asked by trainees on a client secondment.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My experience was essential is deciding for sure whether I wanted to pursue a career as a commercial lawyer. I have gained many transferable skills which will be useful in my degree and in a future career.

  • Very structured placement and well organised. This was essential considering the amount going on throughout the two weeks and the fact there were interns based at three different offices in London.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone invested a lot of time to ensure I was happy with all aspects of my work and that I understood the background to anything client related. A considerably amount of time was invested by my supervisor in providing feedback on my performance.
