About You
The talks/exercises were really engaging, but I felt they wanted me to form my own opinions rather than try to sell me an image of the firm.
Everyone seemed keen to speak to all the attendees and let us ask anything we liked.
The whole Open Day was geared towards helping us apply to law firms, and specifically Baker & McKenzie.
I’d say the skills were more towards impressing at an Assessment Centre than actual career skills, but that’s still important - and reflects how artificial some recruitment exercises can be.
The Company
Only one day, but well structured to vary talks with exercises and networking sessions.
I’ve been to several open days but the people here seemed especially happy in their jobs.
I don’t want to go overboard because it was just an Open Day, but a lot of thought had clearly been put in and all involved seemed to want to answer my questions.
Again, an Open Day doesn’t show everything but they brought in lawyers from as many levels and practice areas as they could.
I was always going to apply for commercial law - it was the firm that was questionable but I’ve decided to apply.
Everything Else
Expenses reimbursed - more than enough for an open day.
Yes, lots, and with people at every level.
Friendly people, relaxed atmosphere. I felt able to ask anything I wanted.
Absolutely - one of the most enjoyable events I’ve attended.
