The Role
I really enjoyed my time at L'Oreal. The level of responsibility and importance of my tasks exceeded my expectations. There is a very strong culture and I found it a good company to work for.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. The tasks that I completed were important to the team and they communicated this regularly. Overall I felt that the culture was strong and that interns were fully integrated as part of the team.
Much of the training was on the job but I felt that I could easily speak to my manager if I ever had a question. Regular feedback and meetings also ensured that sufficient support and guidance was on offer.
Due to the nature of the job, the workload varied significantly. I was never too bored as there was always something to do however the workload could become quite substantial during busy periods. Having said this, I never felt overly stressed my the workload and I found it manageable.
The levels of responsibility during my time at L'Oreal were significant and this was a major positive of the placement. At my age and experience, I was not expecting to be doing such important tasks but I found it very motivating and there was always support in place if I needed it.
I am convinced that my time at L'Oreal will have enhanced my skillset which I will be able to fully utilise going forwards for the rest of my career.
The Company
I found that there was a good atmosphere in the office. There was always a level of professionalism in work and people were more than happy to socialise outside of work as well. This helped get to know people in a non-work capacity.
I found the whole internship process at L'Oreal to be very impressive and well run. I always felt like there was a solid structure in place. There were also well thought out schemes, such as the intern committee, which helped interns bed in.
I found that there were opportunities to take part in training/workshops although I perhaps would have liked to have seen slightly more sessions on offer that were relevant to my role.

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
I am actively aiming to get onto L'Oreal's Management Trainee scheme due to the appeal of the company.
The Culture
The social scene was strong. An intern committee had been set up to help organise events for interns and in addition to this, the general social aspect of the culture meant that there were regular departmental events.
Being based in London, socialising and living was naturally very expensive.
Although Hammersmith itself doesn't have a particularly strong nightlife, central London is only minutes away and the nightlife there was very good.
There were sports societies etc. however I did feel that I wasn't provided with a great deal of info in order to be able to get involved with such things.
