About You
I left the Open Day with a very positive outlook on possible career opportunities within the firm and also with similar firms too. I was welcomed and felt at ease the whole day which seemed to pass quickly. Definitely an opportunity not to miss.
Baker & McKenzie kept the number of attendants relatively low which ensured that every person at the Open Day was given ample time to communicate with different employees within the firm and was able to get properly involved with the tasks.
Throughout the day someone from Baker & McKenzie was always available to answer questions about anything that you wanted to ask. The tasks were straightforward, challenging and fun to do with usually a trainee floating around ready to help at any moment if needed. It seemed Baker & McKenzie was keen to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible.
The skills that were used throughout the day included working within groups time management, presentations, public speaking, negotiating and many more, all of which are important and will relate back to my degree and also in future employment.
The Company
The day was very well structured giving plenty of time to gain a really good insight of the firm and also to be able to get an insight form a trainees perspective too. I also allowed a great insight into the types of tasks which are required on assessment days.
The general atmosphere of the Baker & McKenzie Open Day was professional but with an emphasis of fun, making sure everyone felt comfortable in order to enjoy the day and everything that it had to offer.
As the insight was only for one day it is difficult to gain a proper understanding of what full-time employment would truly be like however, Baker & McKenzie did the best they could including giving a tour of all the offices led by current Trainees.
It allowed me to experience the company culture quite well as the Trainees were able to spend much time describing what the company is like and what the work is like.
It enable me to reaffirm my decision that a career in commercial law is the path I would like to take.
Everything Else
There was a lot mentioned throughout the day about Sports activities and voluntary work that many of the employees at Baker & McKenzie undertook.
