The Role
My job was very technical - exactly what I was looking for
I was very valued, my colleagues saw me as an equal and my job role was important to the department
I was given the opportunity to take DB2 certifications, paid for by IBM
I was able to balance my own workload - my manager trusted me to assign myself enough work so that I would gain the right experience but not overload myself
I was responsible for the assignment of duties for the entire team
I learnt new and varied skills
The Company
about average
The company placement scheme is currently being reviewed to improve the experience for technical interns
they paid for several certification exams, books, software and each member of the team led 'tech talks' to explain their specialised area of DB2
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
very appealing
The Culture
very good - there were a lot of interns (about 50) in my location and many more around the country. One intern arranged a ski trip for all UK interns
The cost was relatively high, but I was given london allowance in my pay
There was a lot of nightlife - it's london
very many, including various activities in work time to benefit the community
