The Role
I was exposed to a number of areas of manufacturing, thus making my placement varied and challenging throughout the year
All in all, I felt valued and trusted by my collegues and superiors
Support was always available and of great help
I rarely found myself with little work to do, and if I did I could always find something to work on
I coordinated my main projects which brought a significant change to the line, as well as other areas of my job
I received invaluable training both with my job and with the various training days the company organized
The Company
The atmosphere really depended on the people in the office, I feel that it was generally good but steps could be made to make it more friendly
The placement was organized very well, with a very easy takeover and good support for the students
The company allowed me to take whatever training I wanted, and organized training days for the placement students
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I would definitely consider a future career with the company
The Culture
There were never any fallouts during my placement, and we socialized out of work too.
The cost of living was relatively low, and the cost of socializing was in line with the rest of the country
The nightlife in Darlington was ok, but Newcastle and York proved to be much better
Various trips and events were advertised throughout my time at Cummins
