About You
The scheme was fantastic: it was fast-paced, with real work and everyone was incredibly friendly!
I was only there for a week, but I was made to feel so welcome by the members of my team. My supervisor especially went out of her way to make sure I was welcomed and well taken care of.
Anytime I got stuck, I could approach anyone in the office and they tried their best to help me. The firm really does have an open-door policy (doors are only ever closed if people are on calls or in meetings) and it's a very comfortable atmosphere. I was offered a lot of career guidance as well.
I don't do law, and already have a lot of work experience so personally the value-add is perhaps less for me than for others. However, the career-guidance aspect and the practical skills I developed are definitely very valuable.
The Company
The Graduate Recruitment team did a really good job making sure we were occupied and knew what we were doing!
Very friendly. Obviously it's a workspace with very serious business worth millions of pounds going on, but there is a genuine sense of fun and enjoyment in the work that gets done.
The number of fee-earner hours invested in us is in itself a testament to how much they invested in us.
I now truly appreciate what it will mean to become a City lawyer. The employees here were very honest with me.
The impression of the firm I had at interview and the one I had during the week were totally different: let's just say I was pleasantly surprised!
It's valuable, and it really will help you. But I'm not sure if it's decisive: you'll need a lot more time and a lot more experience to decide on that, I think.
Everything Else
They pay you enough to cover a week of expenses and leave you a little left over, especially if you live in London.
So many meetings (breakfast, lunch and drinks after work!) so plenty of time.
There were so many opportunities
There is lots going on: some of us were even invited to participate in an inter-firm football match! There's a strong supportive network for women and LGBT groups as well, outside of the sports and arts club.
Definitely- especially for people interested in commercial law.
