About You
Very educational and the employees were very happy to help and answer any questions or queries.
The company really preached to us the value they place on graduate employees and ensured that we were given as much information as possible when deciding whether this industry and firm were the correct ones for us.
The support offered was extremely valuable. The employees took us through the basics of our tasks then gave great encouragement to us to complete the task through development of this knowledge.
The insight gave me deeper foundational knowledge than I had to begin with, knowledge that will allow me to speak confidently in future job interviews.
The Company
Very well informed before and after the event on proceedings. The day itself ran very smoothly - on time and well planned activities for insight students.
Right from the start, the staff were welcoming and helpful. My fellow insight students were friendly and talkative and the activity leaders were charismatic and always attentive to any help you needed.
We were given a talk from a top level investment manager and the group leaders were top graduate employees, this made the learning process all the more valuable.
One part of the insight was to take us through a typical day of an employee while we were also given the opportunity to network with staff about their experiences in their role.
The company culture was outlined to us right from the get-go. And it was clear that the culture was actually followed by the employees.
Being given the opportunity to discover what asset management at a leading firm is like compared to other financial career paths has really made me reassess which companies I should look to apply to for summer work experience.
Everything Else
Return train was reimbursed.
One activity on the insight was a networking lunch.
The networking lunch was good however the ratio of employees to students was not as high as I would have liked it to be to make good connections.
The employees were very keen to share their out-of-office activities which included a range of sports and charity work.
The insight was exactly what was needed to get a truly working knowledge of what asset management is and how BlackRock operates as a firm within the sector.
