About You
Really great week - learnt lots about the firm, was given a good amount of work, and had plenty of lunchtime talks on key skills/application info.
I helped out on real deals/work, felt like my work was valuable and I made valid contributions
When I was given work it was explained clearly to me, and if I didn't understand something I was able to ask questions to clarify.
It will help me enormously when applying for future vac schemes/training contracts. Really valuable skills on contracts/drafting. Also built on my commercial awareness. Able to talk comprehensively about what lawyers do in city law firms!
The Company
Very well structured - we were given a schedule prior to the scheme outlining all the talks/social events that we were encouraged to attend.
Good atmosphere. Most people were very friendly and I was made to feel welcome!
Plenty of talks/sessions on key skills such as negotiating and contracts/drafting.
Completely understand what it would be like to work at the firm, specifically in the department I was allocated to
People were very friendly!
Confirmed my decision of wanting to be a city lawyer at a firm like Simmons!
Everything Else
I was paid £250 for the week.
Opportunity to meet trainees/supervisors from other departments. Also able to network with associates from different departments in a 'speed networking' sessions. Not so much with the partners.
Two social events where graduate recruitment and trainee supervisors attended.
I was only told when I asked - information not given to me or talked about much in the department I was sitting in
Definitely. Really enjoyed the scheme - it was a great experience!
