About You
Great balance between presentations and work shadowing meant that it was both insightful and enjoyable.
Employees took time to answer questions and treated you as a fellow employee, rather than student. Felt valued over the course of the week.
The first two days consisted of presentations and training which gave be a better understanding of what RBS does.
I believe that it will help be with future job searching, but not my degree.
The Company
Overall, insight was well structured. 7.30am starts were often unnecessary as activities did not start until 9.15/9.30am. This aside, it seemed to go smoothly.
Enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.
Provided us with literature and training from Fitch Learning, in addition to other networking and communication sessions.
We had two days of work shadowing involving 8 rotations, giving me a good idea of what a role at RBS entails.
Meeting the employees helped me to understand the culture at RBS - one of openness.
Helped me to decide that banking is definitely a potential career for me.
Everything Else
Living within the M25, I was not given accommodation or travel expenses, meaning I had to spend over £50 on a week's travel. Would have liked to have been reimbursed.
There were networking events on two evenings and we also had the shadowing.
The end of week drinks were a great way to speak to graduates in a more social setting, as was the Young Bankers' Association event.
The shadowing allowed us to ask questions and find out what people do outside of work, from charity to sports.
It was an extremely helpful week and I would definitely recommend it to friends.
