About You
People are friendly and there is a right balance between learning and applying what you have learnt in exercises/team work.
Every member of staff values you as a student and is willing to take time out of their day to help you or answer any questions you may have.
There was always someone to turn to if you are unsure about anything, and all members of graduate recruitment want you to have a valuable week so will listen to anything you have to say.
Barclays focus's on strengths i.e what you are good at as an individual, and these are developed throughout the week, so after the placement you have better skills which can be used in other placements or on a daily basis!
The Company
The structure is given on the first day and is very well planned! Everything ran to time and as much is packed in as possible! There was never a time when I had nothing to do.
Early mornings, be prepared!
Barclays have a specific personal training and development sessions when your own strengths are evaluated and worked on, tailored to individuals.
For Finance there are 3 different work shadowing opportunities where you get to see what work you would be doing in the firm, and learn more about it.
There is a specific session on Barclay's values.
There is networking opportunities through the week where I asked specific questions to see if this was the career for me.
Everything Else
Barclays value networking opportunities so put an emphasis on this.
Even make sure the food is easy to eat so you don't make a mess whilst talking to someone!
