The Role
PLEASE NOTE: This review was for a placement at General Motors prior to the amalgamation of Vauxhall and General Motors (The RateMyPlacement Team) Great Enjoyment, both within Departments at work and Social scene due to a high number of other Undergraduates!
Felt like a Valued member of the Team!
Great process of providing support and analysing progress.
Not at any point was I bored due to lack of work. If anything you could get too busy, but I enjoyed the experience or coping with this.
By the end of the palcement I was managing a lot of programmes and systems, so really it is up to the Undergraduate as too how much responsibiliy they want or can handle.
What I have learned on Placement will make me a much more organisaed student in final year and also give me more confidence when apply to Graduate Jobs.
The Company
Nice and relaxed, but everyone dedicated to the cause. Working within the car industry you will be working along side many indiviuals who have a passion for the industry and even specific manufacturers.
The Undergraduate scheme has been up and running for a very long time. A lot of senoir managment came from the Undergraduate programme, then through the Graduate Scheme to get to where they are! Enough said!
They arrange training courses in such areas as Microsoft Excel and Presentation skills.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very Appealing indeed. The Company has a good history for employing previous Undergraduates and gives them a chance to shine.
The Culture
The Best Around! Over 70 Undergraduates at the Company when I was their made the Social scene like a mini University!
Living Area is fairly cheap and socialising is too. Just depends where you go I supose.
Luton isnt a big place but there is a University and the amount of Undergrads on the scheme makes up for the less lively area.
From Charity events to just helping out a corporate event.
