About You
I had an amazing time, not just learning about Barclays but meeting the people who were a part of the program.
This is not really a fair question because coming in just to see the culture of the bank, it's difficult to value me as a potential employee.
Whenever we had any questions, they were all taken care of.
Coming to this program, I realized a lot of things about how to organize my life better and how to take advantage of opportunities in the work place.
The Company
There was a very set program which we followed.
It was really fun because we never stopped doing things and there was always something going on.
There was an amazing presentation about giving presentations and how to improve on this. It helped me tremendously as I am usually awful at presentations and I improved a lot by the end.
It helped in the sense that we saw that type of people which are employed, but it also lacked because the work shadowing sessions were not helpful. However, this is simply because the bankers I shadowed only wanted to talk while other students on the program shadowed bankers who showed them what they do all day.
By the end of the week, I felt like I knew exactly the type of employee Barclays is looking for.
Everything Else
I was paid 250 pounds for the week and reimbursed my flights. The payment was supposed to cover expenses during my stay here, but my expenses were very small in comparison to the amount paid.
There was one networking event set especially for meeting other employees, but there were also plenty of panels at which we could meet bankers one on one.
There were two, but I thought the first one was poorly timed. It would have been nicer to have met everyone in the beginning of the day rather than the end.
