The Role
Thoroughly enjoyable, great company to work for.
My team all made me feel really welcome. All staff are were very helpful and looked out for your best interests.
My manage was very supportive and approachable, he understood that I was bound to make mistakes and was happy to answer any questions I had.
Some days I did have little work and some days I had to much but on the whole I would say it was a perfect balance as most of the time I had enough work to last me the day and I knew what work I had to get on with first thing the next morning too.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility within my role and felt I had the trust of my team.
I think relating business knowledge to my university studies is really going to be able to help, as I work in the Alliances team I now understand how Alliance Partners work more fully and also the business to business industry. Also how large organisations fit together.
The Company
Great atmosphere. Fun and colourful with a lively working environment. Perfect balance between relaxed and professional. One of the biggest highlights of working for HP especially with so many other interns in the office.
Internship set up well, in particular the month hand over you get with the previous intern you are replacing; not being chucked in at the deep end.
On the job training with the intern you are replacing for the first month. The chances to do on-line training on programs you are unsure of throughout the year.

Great chance to network whilst on placement. Get to know areas/people who work within the areas offering graduate roles for the future. Great foot in the door.
The Culture
The interns run a committee which looks after events, charity and the intern summer ball. Throughout the year the interns attend nights out including inter-company socials so not only do you get to mix with other people at HP but interns from Microsoft, Panasonic and many more from the Reading/ Bracknell area. The interns also get involved in lots of charity events and raised over £25k this year of which a % goes towards funding our summer ball.
Pretty cheap, live in Reading which has a lot of students and therefore student nights out. House rent was £300 a month.
Reading isn't really my type of night life but in terms of getting people out from other companies etc it was really good.
Yes, especially charity events - the 3 peaks being one of them.
