The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the vast majority of my placement.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues.
There were times where I was given more support and guidance than others, but overall what I received was great.
I was constantly busy, there's never a time were you will be doing nothing.
I was entrusted with running a store, employing staff and taking on important projects amongst many other responsibilities.
The responsibility and knowledge I gained were incredible.
The Company
In store, it was a very fast paced environment which could be particularly challenging during busier times. In Head Office the atmosphere was more laid back, however you were still fully expected to complete your tasks and, at times, it was just as mentally challenging as in store.
It was extremely organised as you follow an agenda which covers the entire year.
They invest a lot of time training you so that you are fully knowledgeable on all the areas that your job role covers.

Very! Aldi offer a fantastic graduate scheme to those coming straight out of university.
The Culture
Due to the nature of the placement, the social scene wasn't a huge focus (I don't think it should be anyway as you are there to work!) however, I attended Christmas nights out and lunches with management.
Due to living at home for the duration of my placement I had to drive to and from work every day, which was quite costly. However, Aldi pay very well so it didn't amount to much of an issue.
I lived at home so did not experience the nightlife in the area I worked in.
Again, due to the nature of the business, it really depends on what department you are in at what time so the only situation in which an opportunity would arise would be if the department you're in have an ongoing project that would require their attendance out of work.
