The Role
The placement was very good, friendly people and it was great to get 'real' work. However, the placement was quite short and it was difficult to get a real sense of the firm as a whole although I did leave with an indepth understanding of the property department.
Work was appreciated and feedback given regularly.
Fantastic supervisor. Gave indepth instructions so that I knew the background behind each task and exactly what was expected.
Only one quiet afternoon. Rest of the time was busy completing a task but not too busy to feel stressed/have to stay late.
At lot more than expected and had been given at other firms. Felt like I was being given real work. Told that one report would only be slightly modified then sent to the client.
Very good experience of the work expected of trainees at this firm.
The Company
Very friendly, relaxed. If anyone was stressed this was not projected onto others.
Could have had more presentations/structured exercises. Department time was useful but difficult to find out about other practices within the firm.
Negotiation afternoon which was useful. General training was limited but probably unnecessary.
The vacation placement was an assessment exercise. Not everyone is invited back for a training contract interview.
The Culture
Yes, had two lunches and an evening social where a lot of trainees attended.
Leeds is relatively cheap and we had a fairly generous tab at the social.
The night out we had was good and a pool tournament was definitely something different!
Just organised socials.
