About You
The Insight Week was a great opportunity to network with current employees and experience life within the firm.
Although I was given fairly basic tasks within the office, I felt as though they were contributing to the work of the team. I was always shown what my research was contributing to and the work was accredited to me.
The guidance was excellent. I was assigned to a committed and friendly graduate employee who I shadowed for the week. This allowed me to experience site visits, meetings and social events within the firm. Other members of staff took valuable time out of their day to explain their individual roles, pass on guidance, as well as enthusiasm for their jobs and the company.
Gaining work experience within any chosen industry is invaluable for professional development and commercial awareness. The week I've spend with Savills has provided me with a great insight into the property industry and will hopefully give me an advantage when applying to a very competitive graduate jobs market.
The Company
The week was well structured. I was able to leave the office everyday to visit potential development sites and building. The rest of my time was spent undertaking research and learning about the different areas within Savills' Commercial Services through meetings with members of staff.
The office atmosphere was professional, although the transparent accessibility of directors and senior staff made the environment relaxed and accessible.
I felt that everyone went out of their way to make my experience a positive one. The graduate I shadowed gave up a huge amount of time to answer my questions and explain about the industry. All the staff members were friendly and upbeat, and provided me with professional and informative guidance. The effort that Savills as a company invests in their graduate develop was obvious from day one.
There is no better way to gain an understanding of a full time role without undertaking work experience.
Learnt about the structure of the organisation and the positive attitudes of the staff.
Gave me great exposure to the Commercial side of the Property Industry.
Everything Else
Travel expenses are reimbursed up to £150.
The open plan office allowed me to meet many staff members. Two lunches and an evening drinks event were organised as opportunities for me to ask questions and meet the team.
The social events allowed me to enquire about Savills in a relaxed environment.
The office runs substantial charity charity events that staff are encouraged to get involved with.
Great experience, and will hopefully prove beneficial when it comes to obtaining further experience and employment within the Property Industry.
