About You
Had an absolutely fabulous week with a great bunch of other spring interns and also employees of BAML.
They really made us feel like we were valued and that they wanted to teach us and let us speak to so many people. The amount of senior people we got to meet speaks volumes, they wanted to take time out of their very busy schedules to come and speak talk to us.
I learnt so much, about different roles and basic financial knowledge which was important to me coming from a scientific background.
The skills i developed (financial knowledge, presentation skills, pitching skills, teamwork) will be useful in so many other aspects of what I do in the future.
The Company
A typical day consisted of presentations from different business functions, work shadowing and interactive games (such a a trading game, or stock pitch session)
Loved it
Although the main aim of the week was to learn more about business functions we also got to do presentation skills sessions and innovation workshops. It was more than just this is what this job does. Each presentation normally had a panel of people within that sector who would answer questions so you could really delve in and discover more about what you wanted to do.
Spoke to range of levels of people and I feel I understand what it is like to be in the company from a graduate to head of a region! Also loved how inclusive it was, the grads had access to speak to the people who were head of their area so easily.
Found out so much about the culture, really fantastic.
I know feel I know about all the different functions clearly and can make a clear informed decision into what I want to do in the future.
Everything Else
Stayed in their accommodation provided which was lovely with a big kitchen bathroom bedroom and living space. Lunch always provided and travel card and train.
I met so many people from so many different business areas at a variety of levels all with different backgrounds which was very helpful.
Lots of networking drinks, lunches and one amazing dinner to end a great week!
Met with various representatives from the societies (LGB etc), innovation forum and volunteering and charity work! So much to do.
I would absolutely recommend the insight week to a friend without hesitation. If you are passionate and put a lot in you get so much back out. Had an amazing time, will definitely be applying to more BAML events in the future.
