About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Barclays- I learnt a lot about Investment Banking in specific, and really got a sense of IBD, convincing me to want to work there.
I felt very valued- HR made an effort to keep us informed of what was going on, and how to succeed.
There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions, follow up and be trained in a range of areas.
The skills on presenting, communicating and working under pressure are very useful.
The Company
The insight was clearly structured, with a wide range of exposure and a clear aim.
There was lots of energy, curiosity and fun throughout the insight.
Barclays invested time in training us on soft skills as well as technically in a range of areas to ensure we picked the right area for us.
There were plenty of networking opportunities, graduate panels, and a day in the life sessions. It was clear what it would be like to work here.
There was a big focus on the values, the culture and why Barclays is highly unique in what it does. The supportive culture spoken of during the recruitment process was clear.
There was a big focus on choosing an area of Front Office to fast track to in the future. Each day was dedicated to a different area of Front Office including some you may not be aware of!
Everything Else
I was paid.
There was networking throughout the week, and a special social dedicated to it. Staff were keen to follow up so you could stay in touch in the future.
There was networking throughout the week, and a special social dedicated to it. There was also a general spring intern social.
There was lots of information about citizenship, volunteering, and social events that Barclays runs for its staff.
I would highly recommend this insight scheme to anyone considering a career in banking. It was thoroughly enjoyable and informative.
