    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This was my first industrial placement so I don't have anything to compare with, but I am really satisfied with my internship.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I could have socialized more with my colleagues, but getting to know other people takes time so for a short amount of time that I was there it was ok I think.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We had regular meetings with my manager and the rest of the group and I think we formed a good team.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were days, especially towards the end of the internship, that I was more occupied than normal, but overall I think there was a good balance.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was able to demonstrate my own ideas and design decisions, so I was pretty happy with the amount of responsibility I was given.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I improved skills I alread had, and I acquired new ones (experience in gem5 simulator).

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, but also quite serious. To me it was the right balance between these two.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a few issues, especially some technical problems that affected everyone in the company (not just me), and also when we extended my internship for another month I had some problems with my account that kept me away from being productive for a couple of days. It could have been better organization regarding these issues.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • People were patient with me in the beginning of my internship, during my "warm up" period, until I got used to the simulator and started being productive.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would really enjoy to work for ARM at some point in the future.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I met and socialized with a few people at work, if I had stayed for more I could have created more contacts with them.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living was definitely higher compared to Sweden that I currently live, and salary is lower at the same time, so I would have second thoughts before picking UK instead of Sweden.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Most pubs in Cambridge would close around 11-11.30 in the evening, so if you are not a night-club guy then you don't really have an option for nightlife.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few sport activites, but not very well organized in my opinion, and I would really like to get involved into some music activities as well.

    3/5
