About You
I learned so much about my division during the five days, whilst also getting a strong feel for whether the career path would suit me.
My team were very warm and welcoming. Certain members took hours out of their schedule to teach me about aspects of their business, despite having a lot of work to do themselves. This certainly made me feel valued. I was given some deal work as well, which made me feel that they could trust me to get the job done.
As much as I felt was necessary. There was plenty of freedom bestowed upon us for self-learning, and I enjoyed meeting people from other divisions to network and to soak up more knowledge.
I now have a stronger understanding of how the banks fit into the financial landscape. They do so much more for the economy than I initially thought
The Company
It was beneficial to have spent most of the time with my business area, as it gave me a chance to get to know the team well. There were networking events dotted throughout which also gave us something different.
The general atmosphere was more relaxed than I expected it to be, which certainly put me at ease from day one. Of course, the team worked very hard when they had to, so the dynamics would vary over the course of the day.
I feel as though I learned a lot about the business in my time at Citi. As well as knowledge about my business area, we received CV advice and interview feedback which will be useful in any future applications.
I was given a degree of responsibility within my team which aided this. Talking to people about their firm experiences also gave me more understanding of the full time role.
I was with a team for most of my time, and that gave me a good sense for the people who work there.
Priceless.
Everything Else
They gave us 40 pounds to spend on food in the canteen for the week.
There were organised events for this and our teams introduced us to new people often. We also had the freedom to do this ourselves.
We had plenty of opportunities to meet seniors at the networking events organised for us. They always provided good food and drink as well.
My team went on a holiday to Dubai last year. Citi also have a gym on the ground floor. An employee told me about a Citi ski trip as well, which sounds exciting.
For anyone interested in the business areas that Citi are a part of. From talking to friends on insight programmes at other banks, they do not compare!
