About You
The insight was extremely enjoyable and has certainly confirmed that a career in the City (and Hogan Lovells!) is suitable for me.
Everyone I encountered went out of their way to make me feel welcome. In particular the trainees who organised work shadowing for us each afternoon really helped us feel a part of the team.
Each student was matched with a trainee mentor for the week who acted as a point of contact if any issues were to arise. Further to this we were welcome to speak to the graduate recruitment team at any stage.
The insight into the work of a large City law firm will be of excellent use in years to come, as will the hints and tips for applications.
The Company
We were sent a detailed timetable in advance which was very well thought out.
Everyone I met was extremely friendly and welcoming and there was a great working atmosphere which was conducive to learning.
Partners, associates, trainees and graduate recruitment staff took time out of their busy schedules to provide talks and workshops for us each morning which have proved to be invaluable!
We had plenty of opportunity to discuss working at Hogan Lovells with lawyers at all levels, and were given first hand insight into life in the office each day.
Spending time in the office each afternoon was proof that the culture of Hogan Lovells is as positive as it claims to be.
Invaluable - as well as being given guidance on future careers we were able to see first hand what it may be like working at the firm which confirmed that this is a suitable career path for me!
Everything Else
On top of being paid for the experience the firm reimbursed me for considerable travel expenses.
There was an excellent partner hosted dinner in the middle of the week and several networking lunches.
The food was always excellent and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere at all events.
We were given ample time to discuss this with trainees, associates and partners, particularly at the social events.
I would recommend this experience to anyone, not only will it look great on a CV there is so much to be learnt from a week spent in a large City firm.
