About You
Those were the two most rewarding weeks! It was great to gain technical knowledge, meet very intelligent and ambitious people and work on case studies to improve your own skills!
Everyone was very welcoming and nice. Even the very senior people had time for us and patiently answered every question we had. It was also great that we received a lot of help from bankers during our projects so we learnt a lot.
For every single issue there was a person we could approach and I always felt that I had the opportunity to do so because everyone was very open.
We were not allowed to go on the actual IBD floor but the case studies were very reality- like so we could have a taste of how it works under pressure. It would have been great to see an actual pitch or M&A transaction but that was of course not possible due to compliance.
The Company
I was amazed by how well the insight was structured and organized. It was also incredible that HCM was able to keep to the schedule on the second. We had a great variety of programs, from networking- events to case studies to presentations and speakers. It never got boring!
All the participants were very friendly too so it was always fun to chat during lunch time or after work.
Senior bankers had time for us, we were very well taken care of and even got paid! The skills I learnt during this insight will definitely help me in my future career.
Definitely very good experience to gain a real insight because it did turn out quite different than my previous perception of Goldman Sachs.
What surprised me the most was the Goldman's culture. I was worried whether people there would be arrogant or ignorant but I noticed the complete opposite from day 1! It is a very friendly culture based on team work, diversity and respect.
Everything Else
A lot of small and larger networking sessions were arranged for us and we had the opportunity to talk to a range of different bankers.
Definitely a very interesting and rewarding experience where you can meet great people!
