About You
It was extremely interesting and there was always something going on.
They were all very friendly from HR to Analysts to Vice Presidents. Everyone I had the pleasure to speak to was extremely complimentary about the company but also extremely friendly and easy to converse with.
Everyone I spoke to was always happy to help, no matter how bizarre the question or request. BAML went out of their way to aid us in the decisions which will shape our futures.
We had sessions on presentation skills and general employability.
The Company
There was always something happening, and we were provided timetables so we always knew the next programs. Break times were regular and they made an effort to ensure the days were well laid out so that concentration was maximised at all times.
BAML was a fantastic environment to be in and the people working there were so enthusiastic it was infectious!
The program was fairly general although two sessions in the week were tailored towards your preferences. This was very helpful for someone like myself who was unsure on which business area was the most appropriate. The Bank also made an effort to ensure at networking events there were representatives from every business area to talk with.
Networking events and panels allowed a lot of questions to be asked about daily life in the bank. Many people were also able to shadow but as part of GCIB we looked at a case study. This did actually aid in understanding the kind of long-term projects the bank takes on.
Speaking one to one with representatives away from HR they were still extremely positive about the company. Personally, I got to see how teams interacted with one another which was refreshing as clearly they were professional but managed to maintain a friendship. Something I feel is fundamental to a healthy workplace.
The panels and presentations left no question unanswered. There was unlimited information available and thus it was extremely helpful in imagining a future within the business
Everything Else
They paid for accommodation for those coming from outside London and also reimbursed travelling expenses. Breakfast and lunch was provided along with dinner on one night and canapés on another.
There were many networking events. We had a networking breakfast, a networking lunch, networking drinks and a networking dinner throughout the week. Panels and workshops also enabled group conversation and questioning with individuals from the company.
The networking opportunities had representatives from all lines of business and of different status within the company. Some were more formal and some more casual so they enabled a real mix of conversation and questioning.
The networking lunch was with the 'networks' within the company. They gave us information on the LGBT, women's network and race network. A presentation on CSR told us about volunteering opportunities, whilst the innovation workshop showed us other opportunities within the company. General networking allowed information into the work life balance of the employees.
It was a fantastic opportunity to find out more, and is the first step on what is hopefully a long and fruitful career with the company.
