About You
It was an enjoyable insight which allowed me to gain more knowledge of global markets in a bulge bracket bank. In addition, it was an extremely testing experience.
It was expected that going to such a prestigious investment bank that you would not be valued. But this was not the case as the employees were extremely helpful throughout the insight.
We were provided all the support and guidance required to complete tasks. It allowed us also to work quite freely and independently too as what working life really is about.
It has developed more personal skills and communication skills, whilst scratching the surface of the industry. It hasn't really impacted information for my degree.
The Company
It was evident a lot of time and effort was put into this programme and we were provided at the beginning a daily schedule of events for the week.
It was a mixture depending on the groups you were put in. As there were so many students from different backgrounds it was not always as easy to connect with some.
Lots of information was provided and relevant industry material. In addition to the different exercises and tasks provided each day.
This insight really started from the basics even though you may have some knowledge from before. It was simplified initially but soon became very technical.
As we were mostly separated from the employees but mainly with HR and other interns most of the day we were not able to immerse ourself in the actual culture.
It has definitely provided a number of options as we did not just learn about the decision we got accepted into but various others around the investment bank.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed travel expense and lunches were provided and some dinners.
There were limited offered networking opportunities, throughout the week there was one, and overall little time to reach out to employees as lack of interaction.
HR organised a number of after work events throughout the week such as pub quizzes and dinners this was a good time to network with fellow students.
I was able to ask about this and like university there are a number of societies mainly in the form of sports. However, I think it would be easy to create ones if others share similar hobbies.
For anyone wondering what career to go into this insight really helps to go from simplified to more technical with no obligation to remain in this industry.
