About You
Very much so, I was given responsibility to assist lawyers with real work and numerous socials were organised.
I was given real work and actually contributed to matters.
However much I needed, I was provided. There was no issues with asking questions.
It has given me a flavor of the life of a lawyer in a city law firm. I now have an understanding of what to expect from such a career.
The Company
There was a good combination of activities to get involved in. It was rarely the case that I had nothing to do.
Everyone was generally very friendly and enthusiastic. The numerous socials encouraged everyone to be very friendly and develop good relationships.
They would assist with any queries, however due to the busy schedule of most of the lawyers, there was not many occasions for any in depth training sessions. However there was not much need for it. Documents were provided to develop familiarity of the work.
It has made me very aware of the type of work a city lawyer is involved in. There was no attempt to hide anything.
I have been able to gain a very good insight into the open and friendly culture present at the firm.
The vacation scheme has strongly affirmed my interest in undertaking a career in commercial law.
Everything Else
The pay was more than adequate for vacation work.
There were lots of opportunities to meet the firms trainees, although not many to meet more senior members of the firm.
Excellent - numerous social events were organised including a trip to the Paris office which was great. It was clear that there had been a lot of effort in organising these events.
There was some discussion of the Pro Bono activities that the firm is involved in- but it might have been good to learn a bit more about them.
You gain plenty of insight into life as a city lawyer at a top firm and there are plenty enjoyable occasions to socialise.
