The Role
It was a great experience, perfect for someone who already knew they wanted to teach but wanted to gain some good CV boosting experience and a bit of money at the same time (£600 for completion of the scheme), also probably good for those who have not yet made up their minds about the profession
There was always something to do if you wanted to do it, they in no way left you devoid of responsibility; it was a really tiring but rewarding few weeks
If you had questions, they would answer them
It was what you made of it
When you wanted to choose what to do you could, but if not they would give you a timetable to help you out
Great teaching experience, will be very valuable when i go on to do a PGCE and indeed has already been useful in volunteering situations in schools and with kids
The Company
It was interesting
when i told them what i needed to do to complete the scheme, they made sure i fit it into the time i was there
They would talk when they had time, but obviously not to the extent that it interfered with their own jobs
I want to teach, does that count!?
The Culture
The staff welcomed visitors into their pub trips and staff outings
Cambridge was where i chose to be placed as i live near there, which is quite pricey, but SAS allows you to be in schools in several areas, i think
Its cambridge, you get used to it, but its hardly huge
it was a school, so i could help with homework clubs and an open day that coincided with my stay
