About You
The week was both informative and enjoyable, and I learned a lot about RBS, whilst also having a great time.
All the staff were very welcoming, and, during my work shadowing rotations, I could tell that RBS as a firm is very focused on collaboration and teamwork, and that ethos was definitely transferred to my experience of the week.
We were given several presentations on various aspects of the firm and banking as a whole. We all had an assessment session on the Friday, and we were given plenty of advice on how to approach the assessment.
Although I didn't hugely develop new skills, I have learned a great deal about banking and about RBS, and this information will be hugely useful when I come to make a decision about my career path.
The Company
Very well organised, and all the activities were constructive and helpful.
Very welcoming, and there was very little competitive edge between the students, which made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable, which in turn allowed everyone to focus on the tasks at hand and take on all the information provided, without feeling apprehensive about competition and the other candidates.
We were given many presentations, all of which gave valuable insight into various aspects of RBS and banking. The training simulations were also very informative. I could tell that they really wanted to recruit the best, and were willing to invest time and effort into making the week enjoyable, but also educational.
I was given great insight into the ethos of the firm, particularly during my work shadowing rotations with graduates, who were willing to discuss what it was actually like to work at RBS.
It gave great insight into the firm's values.
The week gave great insight into RBS as a firm, but also banking as a sector, which will help me to make a well-informed decision when I come to choose a career path.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for my National Rail ticket into London, but they were not willing to refund my Oyster Card top-ups.
Yes - over lunch, during work shadowing rotations with graduates, and over drinks one evening.
Great fun, and allowed everyone to relax during a very full-on week.
Not hugely, no.
Very much so - it was very insightful and a lot of fun as well.
