About You
It was a great experience. Besides the knowledge you acquire, you have the opportunity to meet wonderful people who encourage you to enter the financial industry.
At the beginning of the insight I felt a little bit like a stranger but as soon as we were put in teams I started socialising with everybody. Soon I got to realise we were all the same: we had the same goal, we shared the same passion and willingness to succeed in the chosen field. I felt like we were a family.
I was answered every question I had. Even though I study in other country rather than UK, it did not make any difference. I was guided during the entire week.
Now I know exactly which are my weak points as well as my strengthens. This Spring Week enabled me to see behind the curtains and made me understand how the financial system works worldwide as well as what key skills should I acquire and develop during my life as a university student.
The Company
The schedule was quite demanding. However, everything was according to the timetable meaning no delays or change of plans.
I cannot say we had fun all the time. All of the participants took the event very seriously especially because most of us want to further apply for a job at the company. However, we had a lot of fun during the activities we were asked to do in teams and during the socialising nights.
I was introduced to some of the most valuable persons in the company. Moreover, I had the opportunity to shadow an employee in my chosen domain: technology. The presentation about innovation reminded me to always think outside the box. Moreover, I also acquired presenting skills from one of the most famous comedian.
Shadowing an employee made me understand how it is like to have a full time role in the bank and work in such a big team. Of course, you get a lot of support and everybody is willing to answer you any query about anything.
I could see that every employee enjoyed what they were doing and most of the people I met were driven to succeed.
I already knew what career path I want to follow. However, I could say I also got interested in another areas, but this did not make me change my mind about my first choice.
Everything Else
During the lunch breaks, at the work shadowing as well as the panels which were especially organised for us.
We met interesting people who work there and who gave us precious information about their working area.
The networking system is amazing. As soon as you become part of the team, you have the chance to get involved in lots of charity events, cultural diversity activities.
I recommend this insight to everyone especially because it is a good opportunity to test and gain knowledge in the banking industry.
