About You
A gentle introduction to accounting
Everyone is really welcoming and we worked closely in our teams, we had to prepare for and communicate with real clients so it felt like what we were doing was actually important.
We were each given a mentor (1st year school leaver) who checked up on me periodically, took me for lunch and answered any questions which I was too embarrassed to ask the manager.
I study Physics and Philosophy so the skills which I acquired aren't entirely relevant however I definitely improved on my computer and teamwork skills.
The Company
We had a induction on the first day and then got split into teams to work on real cases. It worked really well and we were always emailed in advance about where we needed to be.
Everyone is really friendly and helpful.
There was no specific training but the managers are always happy to help you or teach you what you don't understand.
Unlike other internships there isn't any shadowing or following someone around, you are thrown straight into the working environment exactly as it would be.
Having spent time within the team I now understand exactly what it would be like to work here.
Since we had exact experience of the work which takes place it is very encouraging.
Everything Else
Paid generously and reimbursed lunches and travel expenses while out of the office.
Less so than I would like, we didn't have very much interaction with the senior members of the firm, for example, partners.
Not overwhelming.
Charity and societies for women which I feel are very important, particularly in such a male dominated career area.
Definitely.
