About You
Overall, it was really good to have a work experience that involved being based in the office as well as in client sites.
Was made to feel very comfortable with existing employees, even if I was the only intern at the time.
A full day's induction was helpful in getting answers to any questions, and it was great meeting the other interns on the programme.
I had previously not worked in a corporate setting before, so the programme really allowed me to experience what it would be like working as an auditor.
The Company
I was told where to go well in advance by my mentor, and had the opportunity to visit 2 client sites as well. However, I would have liked more events with the other interns on the programme, such as a 'final thoughts' event on the very last day of the placement.
Some of the work was tiring and dull, however I was made to feel like I added value to the team's work and as a result I have no complaints with the general atmosphere in which I was working in.
Allowing first-year students to visit clients was a definite plus.
You are thrown straight into the working environment, and as a result I feel I have had a short but very informative taster as to what it would be like working here.
Everyone was friendly and accommodating, and answered any questions I had about the job and anything to do with KPMG.
It showed me that audit is a very dynamic industry to be in, due to the amount of client facing work you have and the amount of travel involved.
Everything Else
One of the few first year programmes that are paid.
Being in the office meant that I met a lot of employees working here and everyone was welcoming.
First day of induction was good fun, although I would have liked more social events, given the fact that it is a first year programme.
I found out that employees are given a set number of hours each month in order to contribute to CSR through activites such as gardening.
Anyone who is interested in gaining real world work experience in audit, this is the only programme that comprehensively gives you an insight in working in this industry.
