About You
Very well done with plenty of interaction time with both peers and employees at the firm.
Got a strong impression of the value the company put in the interns.
Good guidance for led tasks, shadowing was invaluable in this regard.
Useful introduction to investment banking that will be useful for future applications. Skills were not relevant to degree but will be useful beyond that.
The Company
Very well structured, clearly planned and thought out which meant you were never waiting around.
Positive and friendly atmosphere overall, although some speakers were quite dry.
Spent a large amount of resources setting up opportunities to talk to professionals at the company and get a first hand look around the various divisions.
Speaking with recent graduates was very useful, particularly with the shadowing. Also being able to talk with the 'rising stars' in the company gave a useful insight into their roles across several different areas.
Company culture came through in almost every aspect of the program, particularly when employees decided why they chose to work at UBS rather than elsewhere.
The content was useful for giving a broad overview of the bank and its overall strategy but apart from the shadowing opportunity there were some areas which lacked in detail to really help decide on a clear career path.
Everything Else
Program was not paid and I did not meet conditions for expenses coverage (living outside M25)
Lots of opportunities including graduate lunches, shadowing and Q&A sessions.
The networking was very good, but the only social event, bowling, took too long to get started up.
Got talked to about equal opportunities programs, volunteering and support programs run by the company, but very little in the way of traditional "extra-curricular" activities such as mentions of team-building days, sports etc.
Very high quality program with the opportunity to progress onto a summer program means it is not to be missed.
