    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The week was really well structured and very informative. It was a good opportunity to experience the banking sector and the various aspects within my chosen business function gave me the best possible experience to be able to make an informed decision in the future.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It was constantly highlighted to us that we were handpicked from an extremely large applicant pool which made me further value the opportunity. Additionally, everyone I met across the bank was very approachable and meant that I could interact with people from multiple tiers within the business.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We got guidance both during the week and to help us in the future outside of the week. It felt like anything but a ‘school’ environment and very much like a corporate environment, but this is important because you can make a real judgement on the environment and culture. During the week we were able to develop soft-skills that will be beneficial whether someone reapplies for the organisation or elsewhere.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Some of the presentations gave a useful analysis of topics I cover in my Macroeconomics module. But beyond that, the skills that we had the opportunity to develop were very much ‘real’ skills which perhaps cant be taught in a lecture theatre and it is very much about interacting with a range of different people.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The time and effort that was put into us in planning the week and during the week itself reflects how well organised the week was! We were always busy and always knew what we were doing/what was coming next.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Excellent! Everyone that I met, whether it was fellow Interns or Vice Presidents, was very approachable and was keen for me to ask questions and engage with them!

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Over the week we got to develop and learn an array of skills from leading people in the organisation - the time these people have put in shows that the company is really serious about their investment in graduates. These skills are not only applicable to banking but further afield and I am very grateful for this level of investment.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There will always be limitations with just having a week in an organisation, but I did still feel I got to experience what it would be like to have a full time role. If there was an opportunity to do some work shadowing it would have given me a better representation of a working day in the bank.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture could be seen throughout the week. This occurred from a range of sources but mainly from speaking to people within the bank: all were clearly passionate about the business and enthusiastic about their roles, and this suggests to me that it’s the kind of organisation I’d like to ultimately work for.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed expenses, even tube rides were reimbursed if proof can be produced.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • In speaking to many employees I was able to appreciate how friendly and helpful everyone I spoke to was. Employees always emphasised their believes on what Citi stands for, what our origins are and how we work.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking/social aspects were great because you get to really engage with someone and ask senior people questions. The best part was that they really genuinely welcomed questions from us.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • It is clear that there is a range of activities outside of the job roles. There is a large sporting communities as well as socials for lots of different types of events.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 100%. It was an incredible experience, especially for a 1st year student. And the company culture was awesome and lots of learning opportunities.
