About You
Really enjoyable--good balance of work and fun.
Very open, friendly people. They went out of their way to give me tasks and explain their work to me.
I was given tasks by myself but I could always ask them questions.
I learned a lot about the particular department I was in, which will be useful for future applications and choosing areas of law to train in.
The Company
A good balance of work shadowing and activities, weighted quite a bit towards work shadowing (which I personally found to be a good thing). I was given plenty to do, though at times had to be proactive in order to get more interesting work.
Hard-working but not tense; fun-loving in the evenings.
Besides the work shadowing, useful seminars on contracts/drafting, negotiation, etc. Hard to comment on long-term investment though because they don't interview for a training contract off the spring vac scheme.
Working and going to events in the evening gave me a good idea.
Spending most of the time work shadowing meant that we were given a more accurate portrayal of the company culture (as opposed to what is just shown at recruitment sessions).
Everything Else
Standard vac scheme pay.
Speed networking and a few drinks meetings, although we only sat in one department.
Relaxed and enjoyable; everyone was very friendly.
Not as much as I should have-- I'm not sure I really asked.
Yes-- very good insight into the firm's culture and the particular department you sit in; doesn't feel too pressurized either (perhaps because there isn't an interview at the end).
