About You
I enjoyed many aspects. From the many informative discussions to the more interactive games, there was so much variety that no one day were the same. One of my aims was to learn more about this business and I was definitely not disappointed.
Though there were around eighty people, I felt very valued as the staff there readily helped me on any queries and I can tell that a lot of time and effort went into this to give us as much insight into the bank as possible.
Needless to say, everyone was willing to speak to us and answer questions.
Firstly, just the knowledge of the bank and this sector in general will be extremely helpful in pursuing a career down this road. whether for future applications or on the job. Also, we had presentation skills sessions and team building activities which are valuable skills anywhere.
The Company
The structure was fitting as the first few days introduced us to many aspects of the bank and the skills required. Then we had activities where we needed to put those skills to the test so it heightened my interests. As I mentioned before, there was plenty of variety but in a structured way so I always looked forward to the events on the next day.
The staff were brilliant and other students on the insight were very engaging which meant the atmosphere was very friendly.
For development specifically, in addition to general skills such as team working, I felt they really wanted us to fully understand how the business is run and the functions of each division so that we can choose the right path for ourselves. That has definitely been the case with me as I have made up my mind on which division I want to pursue at Bank of America Merrill Lynch thanks to this Insight Week.
Many people have spoken about their daily lives and the case studies have been very useful to see how those divisions operate. I expect the internship will show us exactly what it is like as we are placed in a working role.
This was the purpose of the Insight Week. Not only did we see how each division function and work together, we also had lectures on Corporate Social Responsibility and Innovation. This shows how much Bank of America Merrill Lynch respected their place in society and embracing new ideas.
Learning about the bank and the divisions has allowed me to question which aspects suit me.
Everything Else
To be scanned and emailed to them.
There were many and of different styles. There has been at least one every day and with a wide range of people plus a relaxed atmosphere such as a drinks reception or a dinner.
Extremely useful to see their perspective on their area of expertise and their daily lives. Everyone is very approachable and also willing to give their opinions on anything you ask. Just make sure you remember to actually eat during the breakfast/lunch networking sessions!
You get some idea after the networking events but I suppose this would be more applicable for the internship.
Definitely, the best possible path to understand and enter this industry.
